June 2020

June was just fantastic. Glorious sunshine with temperatures in mid twenties until the 20th. Rain was badly needed and arrived in wheelbarrow-loads.

Highlights:

  • The fence is nearly done
  • Plenty ripe strawberries & salads
  • Regular writing to record the work

Plants that look good in June:

  • Roses
  • Begonias
  • Grasses
  • Geranium

Now that I’ve made a start with this summary of the month, I’ll be doing July in a bit more detail. Just so that I can look back on it when I’m OLD.

Writing is good for my head. When head is good so is everything, including some fast biking and slow gardening.

  1. The weather has been very mixed but the rain, as you said, was very welcome; desperately needed! I spent the day preparing patches on a lawn for resowing and understand why the grass was failing – despite all recent rain the ground was dust dry as it is in the shadow of trees. They went in small but have spread over the years.
